Blessington Farms
This past weekend we explored a little farm that happens to be in our own backyard. About 10 minutes outside of Katy is Blessington Farms.
I assumed that the kids would be walking through fields of strawberries in order to fill their baskets. Unfortunately for my camera lens, (that had dreams of beautiful strawberry fields as far as the eye can see), this was not the case.
The strawberries are actually in these styrofoam planters. The kids certainly didn't seem to mind though, and I was still able to get a couple cute shots of the kids as they picked - even though neither one of my kids wanted to stand still - shocker...
Isla was super excited that she got to do this with her friends Avery and Brady.
And Avery was happy that Isla was totally fine with doing whatever she asked her to do. They soon developed a strong "strawberry pickin'" strategy. Avery would pick the strawberry give it to Isla and tell her to run it over to the basket. Isla happily ran the strawberries back and forth from Avery to the basket. Maybe I should have Avery come over at dinner and tell Isla to eat something...
And as typically is the case, sweet Holden was just along for the ride. He spent his time grabbing at the strawberries, and toddling around. We are working on shoes-I promise!
After we had our fill of strawberries we headed over to the play area. Since the ground was muddy only a few of the activities were open, but those few activities could have entertained our kids for hours. I highly recommend spending time in this area when you visit Blessington.
Holden had a great time playing in the sand and getting dirty.
Next we ventured over to the chicken coop.
Little did I know that they were actually going to let Isla HOLD a chicken. She was of course elated and named her chicken Tracy. I think at this point she still thought we were going to take Tracy home.
I have no doubt she would have slept with that chicken if we had let her.
Holden was much less impressed...
Next the kids tried to feed Tracy some crickets they had been collecting. It started to look very much like the nature channel at Blessington Farms.
The car ride home was full of muddy shoes and tired babies - one of whom fell asleep on the short ride home... Blessington Farms = SUCCESS.
