Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend!  We had a very busy, and fun weekend, punctuated by beautiful weather, (well, except for yesterday).  But as I sit here writing this blogpost while I tan poolside, it's hard to remember the afternoon storm our area experienced yesterday.  Besides, my kids were WAY too worn out from the rest of the weekend to notice that they weren't playing outside.

Our Easter weekend started on Good Friday (I know, I know - doesn't everyone's Easter weekend start on Good Friday)?  But this was  unique for us as Jordan doesn't usually get holidays like this off from work.  We decided to take full advantage of the extra day and made a trip down to Galveston.  Despite some bad traffic, we had a fantastic trip.

This was Holden's first time at the beach.  We thought that he would be hesitant about the sand and want to be carried for most of the trip.  We couldn't have been more wrong.

As soon as we put him down, he made a beeline for the water, and he didn't leave until we physically picked him up and made him.  We always thought that Isla was a water baby, but after watching Holden, she was nothing.  He could LIVE in the water.  He loves it - and he seems to have no fear, even less so then his daredevil sister.  I swear he can already hold his breath underwater.  I guess I need to look into some swim classes for this one!

We weren't really planning on letting the kids get too far into the water, so while we did bring a change of clothes, we didn't bring swimsuits.  Holden didn't seem to mind though.

We had to pull him out of the water over and over again.  Undeterred he would quickly make his way back to the spot we had just moved him from.  He had SO.  MUCH.  FUN.  And it was fun for us to watch him discovering this new thing, and enjoying it as much as he did.

Isla was happy to play with her beach toys and not get too wet.  Which was good as we were pretty busy trying to keep Holden out of too deep of water.

Oh yeah, did I mention we got dirty?  REAL dirty...

Holden's favorite part was definitely not showering off, but it had to be done.

After the beach we headed to lunch and finished up with some ice cream.  By the time we got the kids back to Cinco they were EXHAUSTED!  Even after Holden's little cat nap on the drive home.  They were both out like lights.

Of COURSE Isla's not napping.  Far from it...

The next day we woke up and headed to the neighborhood park for an Easter Egg Hunt.  Isla has been extremely excited for all Holidays lately, constantly asking me "what's next?"  When she finds out someones birthday, or Holiday is next, she will go around and tell everyone who will listen for the next couple of months that it's so and so's birthday, or "Happy New Years"!  Easter was no exception and all morning she was super excited for the Egg Hunt.  Of course, by the time that the Egg Hunt was ready to start her mood and excitement had quickly deteriorated.

With Daddy's help she quickly recovered and happily gathered only the pink and purple eggs.  Luckily some sweet friends were willing to trade with her :).

Isla and this little boy kept gravitating towards each other.  I thought it was super cute - not so sure about Dad though...

After the Easter Egg Hunt we took the kids to the gym and after a quick workout took them swimming.  We came home and had lunch, and then headed back out to take a walk around the lake and feed some ducks.  It was a nice Easter treat to see a bunch of newborn baby ducklings following their Mama around the lake.  Finally we took Isla to Chik fil A for dinner and she played on the indoor playground while we tried to coax her into eating her chicken nuggets.  Starting to worry, if she stops eating chicken we are going to have a problem!

It was another full day and the kids were happy to get in their beds that night.

The next morning the kids woke up to surprises from the Easter bunny and yet even more hidden eggs.

After all the excitement calmed down we got the kids ready for church.  In the name of tradition we gamely tried to get some family shots before the service.  I set up the tripod and had everything in place, now all we needed was to pose for a couple pictures.  Easy, right?  If you've ever seen Isla when we ask her to pose for photos you know that this is anything but easy.  Our pictures tell the story better:

It was kind of sweet because she wanted to take the picture with her own camera, I guess we can look back and laugh someday, right?
