Balcones Canyonlands // ATX
The day after Thanksgiving the plan was to head up to the lake as soon as we woke up. Unfortunately, Jordan woke in the middle of the night with a stomach bug and wasn’t feeling up for it. In an effort to get away from the germs, I decided to take the kids up while he recuperated, hoping he would be able to join us sooner rather than later.
That turned out to be the case, as I had just gotten off our exit when I got a call that he was on his way up as well. We had a low key night on the couch and then woke the next morning to a crisp Fall day.
We planned to hike the Balcones Saturday morning before heading into Austin for some ice skating on top of the Whole Foods flagship store. Following ice skating we were going to grab some lunch at Easy Tiger, a German style restaurant known for its sausages and bread, and then finish the day with a short hike up to the Pennybacker Bridge.
This all seemed like a lot… especially with Jordan not feeling so hot, but he powered through and by the end of the day was feeling nearly 100% again.

ATX // Ice Skating
Unfortunately, Holden didn’t feel like going skating. He was super excited but then he learned he would have to put skates on, which he wasn’t on board with. It’s something we’ll have to work on for next year. Isla however, is a great little skater and had a fun time with her Dad while Holden and I played on the playground next to the rink.
At this point we had worked up quite the appetite and headed to lunch.
Easy Tiger
The food was excellent and the atmosphere even better. We were happy to find out that they actually have one of their three locations on our exit, so we will definitely be back!
Dolly had a great time as well, and we even had a couple people ask if they could take a video of her - LOL!!! Of course we took a video as well…. Duh!
On the way out we found a Lime scooter and took Isla for a quick ride.
Pennybacker Bridge
It was a great weekend in the Hill Country and we were glad everyone was healthy enough to experience it.
