The Lake - Our First Fire

In early December we headed up to the lake for our first real "cold weather trip".  The forecast showed wet and cold temperatures throughout the weekend and we were excited to get up and build our first fire in the house.

We started the trip with a stop at one of the regulars.  Although, this was a much smaller Bucee's than the kids were used to, and they were thoroughly unimpressed.

Saturday morning we woke up early and headed to Mt. Playmore.  Its a fantastic indoor play area.  Holden had a blast running around the jungle gym, and Isla had a good time riding all the kiddie rides.  Not sure why she was so excited about these, but she insisted on going on each one, and dabbing on them all.

We headed downtown for a thai lunch at one of Austin's top rated food trucks.  It was absolutely amazing!  Just looking at these pictures has my stomach growling.  If you're in the area, don't pass up Dee Dee's food truck.

That night we started our first fire at the lake house and roasted marshmallows.

Thanks to my Mom, I was aware of a sensory Santa at the mall in the area.  This Santa is offered for kids on the spectrum, or with other disabilities that make waiting in line, loud noises, etc... difficult, thereby making Santa visits difficult.

It was such a wonderful experience.  We walked in and they handed us a social story to explain to Holden what was happening.  He didn't need it however, he knew exactly why he was there and was excited to see the big guy.  While we waited for our turn we colored and ate the breakfast that the mall provided.

When it was our turn, Santa spent as long as we wanted talking to the kids.  Holden did great and LOVED seeing Santa - especially his beard.

Isla was a different story.

SHE

was terrified.  She managed to choke out one word before she left; "Hatchimal"...

Oh SH * @!!!!
