A little bit of Loch Lomond and The Isle of Millport

At this point in our trip, we started asking each other one question; "what's been your favorite part of the trip so far?"  Every time, we would both come up with the same answer;  "every new thing that we do, just seems to be better and better."  This can definitely be said for the subject of this blog post, our first taste of the Highlands, and the Isle of Millport.

After we bid farewell to St. Andrews we headed towards Glasgow, and then a little bit further, to the Cameron House.  After the recommendation from Loane, (mother of the groom), and photos from the internet, we knew we were in for a treat, but our imaginations did not do this place justice.

Cameron House

Nestled on Loch Lomond, surrounded by wooded trails was The Cameron House.

The first thing we saw as we pulled up was the seaplane docked off the entrance to the hotel.  Apparently, you can book this plane to take you on an aerial tour of the Loch, and surrounding area.

The hotel was honestly one of the coolest places I've ever stayed.  It had a very

summer camp feel, but with amenities and services that were second to none.

After a super busy day, we decided to forgo dinner at one of the restaurants at the hotel, and instead opted for room service.  This also worked well, as we were set to meet Loane and Mark, (parents of the Groom), at the hotel bar later on that evening.

Of course the Great Scots Bar, was just as cool as it sounds.  It was so nice to get to see Loane and Mark, and share all that we had experienced in their home country.

It was a much needed relaxing night, and a perfect time for a little breather.  So much so, that we extended it into the next morning.  We skipped our boat tour around Loch Lomond in favor of a couple more hours of sleep before heading out to the Isle of Millport with the Lennons and Trey.

Isle of Millport

Millport is the only town on the island of Great Cumbrae.  Tourism plays a heavy role in the towns economy, and ferrys run throughout the day taking passengers over to explore this beautiful piece of land.

After a very hearty lunch of fish n chips, and mushy peas, we headed over to get our tickets for the ferry.

Once again, the weather seemed to change on us before our eyes.  You could literally look right, and it was dark, dark grey, and then turn left, and see sunny blue skies.  No complaints here.  It was great to get photos from both viewpoints.

Once on the island, we headed to rent bikes to cycle the 11 miles around the island.

It was such an awesome experience.  I loved the totally different scenery, and was so surprised at the variety of such a small island.  I feel like if you look at these pictures, you may not guess that they all came from the same place.

Like I said, the trip just keeps getting better and better!
