The Houston Zoo
It's been a while since we've been back to the Houston Zoo. Usually whenever I feel like I want to go, it's during a holiday or too hot, and I come to my senses and decide I don't want to battle the crowds/heat. This week we didn't have a lot going on, so on Wednesday we packed a picnic lunch (Isla's highlight of the whole trip), and headed downtown.
As soon as we got out of the car Isla was screaming about going to see the snakes. She seemed underwhelmed by the snakes once we were in the snake house. I think that this had less to do with the snakes appeal, and more to do with the millions of kids there on school field trips. Seriously, do all the schools decide to come to the zoo on the same day??? Also, can't we have a day that is field trip free??? As the day wore on we were able to escape the kids and find less crowded areas to hang out in.
Holden was a trooper, and actually stayed in his stroller the WHOLE time, with minimal fuss. It made the task of taking two kids to the zoo so much easier, and I was a very grateful mama.
We left the zoo with a new friend named Carrie (a pink snake), and a super sleepy little boy, (Isla of course was just as energetic as ever).
