Things I love about Texas (Winter Edition)
At the risk of being hunted down and captured by the residents of the great state of Texas, I have to say that when I moved here I didn't really understand what all the hype was about. To put it bluntly, I did not think that the actual state of Texas was that great. I loved the neighborhood that we were building in (and currently live in), and I love the opportunities that our neighborhood and the City of Houston offer and afford our children, but the rest didn't seem to live up to all the talk.
I admit that moving west from the rolling hills of Tennessee and Georgia to the flat lands of South Texas had something to do with it. Houston's concrete jungle certainly didn't help. Although, over time I have grown to find the unique beauty in my surroundings, and absolutely LOVE the everything is bigger in Texas attitude. I think I get it now - Texas is a proud state and I am proud to be a part of it.
Certainly, the winter temperatures cannot be ignored in my affinity for my current home state. I never imagined taking my children for ice cream in December, sweating through an outdoor Christmas birthday party in our jammies, or going to visit Santa outside with my daughter in short sleeves and a dress. It looks like we are raising true Texans, and I couldn't be happier about it!

Even the Christmas lights are bigger in Texas!
