First Mothers Day!
Well, let me start by saying we had a GREAT day; even if everything didn’t go exactly as planned. The plan was to take a picnic down to Galveston and eat it on the beach. We were going to use a giftcard that Jordan had gotten from his previous employer and go to Honeybaked Ham. From there, we were going to take it down to Galveston and enjoy a nice beach picnic. Well, the trouble started when we woke up to overcast skies. No worries, we were going to make the best of it. So, we found a Honeybaked Ham store on the 45 minute trip to Galveston and mapped it out. Well, turns out they are not open on Sundays. We decide to pull over and eat at Sonic. If you have ever eaten at Sonic, you know it’s impossible to just eat one thing on the menu, so of course, Jordan and I both over-indulge and are stuffed by the time we get back on the road. At this point it has started to drizzle and it does not look like the sun will be making an appearance. We make it to Galveston and after driving around downtown and taking a very short walk around the area we are totally disappointed. Let’s just say this is not a beach that we would plan on coming back to. We decide to call our friends who come to the area often. They tell us that we are on the total wrong side of the beach and to get out of there… quickly! We end up driving a couple miles in the direction back towards Houston and come to some really nice homes, rentals and beaches. We were so excited to find the diamond in the ruff! Needless to say it was quite an adventure, but we will definitely be going back. But not to the downtown area! We are excited to have a beach so close by!
