Winter at the Lake

One of the many things that we love about our house up at the lake is it’s versatility. While the obvious is that Spring Summer and Fall days (we live in Texas remember), are amazing spent on the water, living in the Sun and soaking up the long days, Winter is also great in it’s own way.

Much of our Winters at the lake are spent exploring Austin’s many hiking trails and great food and drink spots. On this particular trip we hiked the Turkey Creek Trail and explored Georgetown’s cute little town square - in the process finding a rival for our favorite Austin area pizza (Home Slice) in 600 Degrees Pizzeria. Believe me when I say, ONE SLICE IS ENOUGH… you will be tempted to get more, but DON’T… the slices are HUGE!

We didn't count on the trail being as wet as it was. Couple this with the fact that it was very cold out so we had to make sure that the kids feet didn’t get wet. As you can see, Jordan bore the brunt of this task.

Dolly just plain refused to step in any sort of water…

Overall it was a really great trail. We didn’t explore all of it by any means and we will definitely be back. I recommend it to anyone in the Austin area, especially with a family or dogs.

Later on in the weekend we took the boat out for a chilly but beautiful ride. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Lake Travis that calm or empty. However, it was cold… let’s just say our mug of tea went quickly.

Holden had a great time when it was his turn to drive the boat.

On our last day we hit up one of the many trails in the neighborhood. Luckily it was starting to warm up and there weren’t nearly as many creeks to cross.

Winter always provides some gorgeous sunsets, and we took advantage of our new heater to play some cards outside and enjoy them.

Fun times were had by all…

…some more than other
