Summer // Part II

The Haugens at the Lake

As I said, we did a lot this Summer, but most of it was very close by.

In June, we once again had some visitors from Nashville.  My sister and her family came up to visit us at the lake.  They are expecting their second, so we offered to watch their adorable little boy Henry while they stayed up at the lake a couple extra days than us.

Neither of us look especially happy, but I'm thankful to whoever took this photo of my sister and I and our sweet boys.

I don't think Holden got the memo - "Smile even if you don't want to"...

These two were sweet friends by the end of this trip, although sharing was a little tough in the beginning.

It was a cloudy beginning on the lake, but by the time we were ready to go back in, the sun had come out to play for a bit.

Sweet Henry was a little scared at first, but eventually got over his fears.

The next morning we headed out to do some fishing.

Isla was less into the actual fishing part.  All she really wanted to do was actually catch something.

And then, once she actually did catch something she had mixed feelings...

Mandy and I stayed up and played around the playground and went for walks with the boys.

We were so thankful for our time with this sweet boy.  He is the most precious and well behaved child. I could totally do three if someone promised me a "Henry" ;).

Possibly one of my favorite moments from this trip was when I took the boys through a carwash.  I'm not quite sure Henry had ever experienced one before.  It certainly doesn't look like it from this video...

He threw up almost directly after this video, so maybe that tells you something.

Horse Camp

Isla was signed up for a couple of activities this Summer; swim team, horse camp and chocolate camp.  Out of the three this was the most anticipated.  She was doing the camp with a good friend of hers, and she was super excited to be around the animals and spend time riding them.

They paired each child with a horse for the week.  Isla's was "Salsa."

Salsa

The last day the kids put on a show with all the skills they've learned.  I was so proud of our little cowgirl.  She looked so tiny up on that big horse.

Galveston

Our good friends the Kennedys recently bought a house down in Galveston.  They invited us down for the  weekend and we were so excited since we had decided to scrap our beach trip for the Summer.

Jordan got off work early and we headed down Friday afternoon.

We are

SO

grateful for our friendship with this sweet family.  We had an amazing time at their beautiful "happy place," and can't wait to do it again!

Thank you Kennedy Family!

4th of July

Every year we host a 4th of July party.  It's a nice way for everyone to get together amid busy Summer schedules.  Kids usually outnumber the parents and this year was no exception.

Isla

loves

picking out the fireworks with Daddy... It's kind of a tradition.

our loot

Our friends Kathy and Eric hosted a pool party and movie on the lawn for the kids the night before.  Of course Holden just chilled out in the pool the whole time.  That kid has life figured out if you ask me.

This was not all the kids

and this was not all the adults... One of these days we'll get a comprehensive group picture!

The confetti was a

huge

hit, but also a HUGE mess.  Thanks to Jordan for raking it

mostly

all up.

It was a very happy 4th of July on Bracken Hurst Drive.  I hope y'all all had a festive and fun holiday as well!

Jordan captured this drone footage of fireworks around the area.  I think it's so crazy the amount of fireworks within the direct vicinity.  When I was a kid we went to the park and we pretty much

ALL

watched those fireworks.  In Texas people just do their own!

You're now halfway through our four-part series.  Part III is up next!  Thanks for visiting :)
