Smittys BBQ // Lake // South Congress
Smitty's Market
We've been on a mission to try all three of the restaurants on the "Texas BBQ Trail" as it's basically on our way from Katy to the Lake, and it's super historic in Texas culture. You can see my post on our first restaurant, and more history behind it here.
Smittys Market was the next BBQ joint on the list.
Of the three restaurants on the trail this is the only one still in the original building. The coolest part of this one was the history behind it.
The food was served much like Kruez Market, with a line for the meat, and then minimal fixin's and sides. Of course it was served with no utensils, no sauce, no plate and a half a loaf of white bread.
The building was cool, and it was a great experience, but the food didn't hold a candle to Kreuz Market's juicy brisket. Nevertheless, it was a good meal and another box checked off. Only one more restaurant to go... Up next - Blacks Market.
We only had one night up at the lake but we made the best of it. We took a nature hike down by the water, roasted marshmallows and had fun flying the drone around new spots.

South Congress
We decided to stop in Austin on our way home.
We googled best pizza in Austin and this spot came up pretty consistently...
it did not disappoint...
The cupcakes were pretty good too...
It was a nice short trip - one of the many reasons we are so happy we made the decision a year ago to invest in a lake house.
