Chapel Hill, North Carolina
At the end of April, beginning of May Jordan and I were lucky enough to get to take a trip to Chapel Hill for the wedding of one of his high school friends, Sam Brownfield (THANK YOU Mary Ann and Jerry). It was nice to take a low-key trip where we had a lot of downtime. It was also great to get to see a lot of people that we haven't been able to catch up with in a while.
As soon as we got into Raleigh we were quickly hit with a severe thunderstorm. So bad that they had to suspend all baggage activity at the airport. After a small delay while we waited out the storm, we had our bags and were heading downtown for a dinner reservation Jordan had made for the two of us at a Vietnamese restaurant recommended by one of his friends.
Luckily we made our reservation just in time!
It was DELICIOUS! Especially the sweet rice dessert!
We stayed in Raleigh for the night, and headed up to Chapel Hill early the next morning. We had plans to meet up with our friends the Garretts, who we had met in Katy, but have recently moved to the North Carolina area. They were heading to the beach for the weekend, and as luck would have it, were coming through Chapel Hill right around lunch time.
We had a great time catching up with them over lunch. Afterwards we bummed around downtown, and even met up with one of Jordan's old teachers who owns an art gallery in nearby Carborro.
That night we met up with the rest of the wedding guests.
After brunch the next day, Jordan and I walked around campus for a bit before getting ready for the wedding.
The wedding was beautiful, and we had a wonderful time. My only regret was that it fell on the same weekend as Isla's dance recital. But thanks to Nana and Papaw, she was ready to go on her big day, and did a great job! I still need to pick up the DVD of the performance, but promise to share as soon as I get it.
