NCAA National Championship in Dallas

Jordan gets a lot of perks with his job.  Most of the time, I don't get to take part in them, but sometimes, I get lucky, and get to go do something super fun.  The NCAA National Championship was one of these times.  The first ever national championship decided by a playoff system was played in Dallas this year, and with an offer of free tickets, it was an event we just couldn't pass up.

Luckily, we are fortunate enough to have Jordan's parents, Jerry and Mary Ann who are happy and willing to help out with the kids when we really need them.

Since it was so close, we were able to drive up the morning of the game.  Our hotel happened to be a couple blocks from Dealey Plaza; so we dropped our bags off at the hotel and headed out for a little sightseeing before the big game.

After some lunch, we decided it was time to head over to Jerry World to start tailgating.

I have to admit, I expected much more of a party around the stadium.  I'm not sure if it was the fact that the festivities were so spread out, or the cold.  Maybe a combination of both, nevertheless, we had a great time tailgating at the Valero, and met up with Dan and Sara, who also made the trip up from Houston.

Finally, it was time to head to the stadium.

We had high expectations for the stadium, and I have to say, it did not disappoint.  Although it pains me to say this, since I HATE the Dallas Cowboys, it's definitely the nicest sports venue I've ever been to.

We had great seats, and thoroughly enjoyed the game - EVEN THOUGH Ohio State won…

The jumbotron is

so

big and accessible that Jordan had to keep reminding me to watch the game on the field, and not the big TV!

It was so nice to get away just for the night.  Sometimes that's all you ever need/want, and we are super grateful to Mary Ann and Jerry for helping to make it happen!
