Baby Ballerina
Isla has been taking a dance class since the beginning of summer. Initially, she was extremely resistant to going. So much so, that she would barely leave my side, then the other side of the door, and then no more then 5 feet away from me.
Her first class she must have said she had to go to the bathroom at least 3 times, (class is only 45 mins long). Guess what - she didn't go to the bathroom any of those times. I decided to stick with it for a month, 4 classes, and then if she was still not liking it, we wouldn't sign up for any more sessions. Well the second class, Isla was a whole new dancer, and looks forward to her classes every week.
While she may not be the most graceful or well mannered ballerina; imagine a little girl picking her nose in the middle of class while announcing to the teacher that she has green boogeys, she loves her time at dance class. She marches to the beat of her own drum, twirling when the rest of the class is doing arabesques, running to the end of the stage when she is supposed to be gracefully tiptoeing with her hands in the air, and much more concerned with her tutu color then whether or not she is executing the perfect curtsy. But, to her very proud Momma she is the prettiest most talented ballerina on the stage.
